[Cyber Command] Cross-layer 3 MAC is not effective

Problem Description

Customer feedback: MAC cannot be retrieved after configuring across three layers

Effective troubleshooting steps

  1. Confirm that STA version is STA3.0.27. The version no lower than STA3.0.26 supports the function of obtaining MAC across three layers.
  2. Confirm that the function of obtaining MAC across three layers is enabled normally in the settings. The configuration is as follows
  3. Confirm the switch acquisition configuration and find that the selected scanning device is not a STA device

Root cause

The cross-layer MAC function requires a scanning device with a version no lower than STA3.0.26 to obtain the ARP data of the switch.

solution

In the corresponding switch collection configuration, the scanning device only needs to select a probe that is not lower than 3.0.26

Suggestions and Conclusion

The following points should be noted when taking MAC configuration across three layers

  1. The STA MAC function needs to be enabled in the configuration
  2. In the switch collection configuration, the scanning device needs to select a STA device higher than 3.0.26
  3. The corresponding scanning STA device needs to be connected to the switch
  4. The switch needs to enable STA to collect SNMP data
