[Hardware troubleshooting] Services network port lights Shut Down after Interface is shut down

Problem Description

After a customer's machine offline Workflow Finish, it was found that Wed Services had been Shut Down, but NIC light was still on. The customer believed that the equipment Fault and called 400 to report the problem.

Root cause

The NCSI function Default on the Even 10G optical port cards and onboard 1G Interface of some machines. This function gives User the Role to outadministration and management, that is, they can access the out-of-band administration and management (BMC) Passed the NIC after Remote connection (even if the machine Shut Down). Therefore, some Interface need to be in Standby at any time to keep the NIC Interface enabled. Therefore, NIC is designed to still have 3V3 power supply Auto unlock after Yes turned off, and the phy part of NIC (physically) will remain in the linkup state after shutdown.

solution
