[aCloud] Cluster occasionally prompts vxlan port alarm

Problem Description

Users reported that when using a-cloud recently, Overlay Network Interface alarms were occasionally prompted. Users were worried that their business would be affected and wanted to find out the cause of the alarm.

Alarm Information

Root Cause

It turned out that it was caused by the mechanism in the Virtual Network of the hyper-converged platform. Not many virtual switches were used in the user's Virtual Network. When the all-in-one machine has a virtual machine running under the virtual switch, a switch instance will be generated (no matter how many virtual machines are running under the switch, only one switch instance will be generated). When all the virtual machines running under the virtual switch are Power On Shut Down or turned on, the vxlan port alarm will be prompted. This is caused by the platform mechanism and is a normal phenomenon. However, there is only one virtual switch in the user's Virtual Network, and three running virtual machines are connected to it. The alarm is prompted when these three virtual machines are performing power Shut Down and off operations, and these three virtual machines are not running on the same Node, so the vxlan alarm information appears.

Solution

Virtual Network, you can use multiple virtual switches to connect virtual machines, so that Node can have as many virtual machines running under the virtual switch as possible, and no alarm will be generated due to switching on or off a certain virtual machine.

Suggestions and Summary

In the future, it is better to use more virtual switches in virtual Virtual Network to avoid this situation. Of course, this is also a little-known knowledge point. Everyone can share more uncommon or less-noticed knowledge points.
